Sevenoaks Vine 3rd XI went away to Chelsfield on Saturday. The Vine won the toss and elected to bowl. Gavin (9 overs 3 wickets 34 runs) and Tibbits restricted the top order of Chelsfield, getting a break through in the first over. Nix (7 overs, 3wickets, 31 runs) and Bromley came on bowling good channels .Ramchandran, Rogers, Tudor all combined as a bowling attack and restricted Chelsfield to 131-9 with 6 overs left but disappointingly the last pair added 50 , aided by a bad drop with the score at 160 before skipper Ryan Gavin finally bowled the last man.
Ramchandran and Read (44 runs) opened up, battling bravely against a spirited bowling attack. The Vine continued on a deteriorating pitch, falling to 97-5. With the run rate creeping up, Masding (32 runs) and Gavin pushed on trying to wrestle back control. Gavin took 15 off the 35th over keaving the Vine needing 36 off 4 but with his dismissal in the penultimate over hope faded and the Vine fell short on 163-9 off the 40 overs. Nonetheless, 13 bonus points, 10 wickets and good fielding gives promising signals for the team as they sit 3rd in the league.
